Description

The Returning Rapids Project’s 2023 report outlines the findings of RRP’s research from the past year in the river corridors of the Colorado and the San Juan that were impacted by the reservoir.

The report covers what changes have occurred in Cataract Canyon this year after the first major runoff in many seasons: new changes at Gypsum Canyon rapid, massive sediment slumping, a new mud rapid, and a quickly evolving situation at the Dirty Devil confluence and North Wash Boat Ramp. The report also maps out changes happening on the “Lowest” San Juan, documenting native vegetation rebound and changes in river features.
