Glen Canyon restoration: Could “America’s lost national park” be revived?

– Not the same as pre-dam, but the potential for restoration is huge

– Many side canyons and tributary rivers are already returning

Large Scale Restoration

-A story of sediment mobilization and ecological succession

-Would be one of the largest river restoration site in the world

As of spring 2021, GCI is leading regular trips to the canyon with expert and professional scientists from Western Water Assessment, the USGS, and universities from the region to understand what is happening with both sediment removal and ecological succession. We are also supporting Returning Rapids Project work in the upper reaches of Glen Canyon and Lower Cataract Canyon.
